Leather seats are popular among car owners for their luxurious and elegant look and feel. They are also something of a passion for us here at VIP European Auto. We love getting behind the wheel of a beautiful vintage car with gorgeous leather seats. Owning leather seats is something of a responsibility however. In today’s blog we will talk about care for leather seats and repairing them if they are damaged.
Staying in the Shade
Leather and direct sunlight do not get along well together. This can end up being a bit of a problem here in Phoenix, where the sun feels almost inescapable at times. We recommend using sun shields and window screens as often as possible. Park in a garage or in the shade as often as possible. Overexposure to the sun will inevitably cause your leather to fade and crack.
Be Mindful of what you Transport
This is one of the most important aspects of taking care of your leather seats. Avoid placing heavy, bulky, or sharp objects directly on your seats. With one slip you could end up with major damage. Puncture in leather can be difficult to repair. If transporting objects like this is unavoidable, place them in the trunk where they will be safer. Alternatively, you can place a thick, heavy, protectively blanket down on top of the seat.
Opting for Professional Repairs
There are plenty of leather repairs kits available out there, but using these can be risky. Sure, these kits had been branded with the idea that anyone can use them, but remember, you are not a professional. Here at VIP European Auto we have spent countless hours repairing and revitalizing leather interiors. There is no substitute for that experience. We will treat your vehicle with the care and respect it deserves.
